Apart rom issuing a fatwa, what can we do as responsible muslims,to stop our fellow people killing others?
Written by al-Ustaz on March 3rd, 2009 in Ramadan.
..It is a fact that so many people, irrespective of social ,political and ecnomical status, are being brainwashed by wrong people and are being made to act as pawns..
It bothers me bcoz innocent people are getting killed in the name of my faith..and i am getting alienated from the society for no reason of mine..
There is no much point in explaining Quran verses to them, bcoz theey keep asking,”Then why these terorrists interpret the same Quran in different way than yours, how can we know who is right and worng islamically’ bla bla bla..im sick of this..
What are the steps that i can take as to have a better harmony between muslims and non muslims in my society..
@Maha ![]()
q,noworries,go ahead and accuse me of
Ishfaq,no worries,go ahead and label me a jew undercover..
My qstn is not propaganda..Leave aside Iraq and palastein where people are fighitn for freedoma dn killing themselves out of desperate minds..
What about places like Pakistan and India? Why do you think a blast in Islamabad happened 2 dyas ago, killing so many people..What is the islamic cause behind it..What about recent blasts in india?..
Sister Rumaitha, thanks for being the one one who bothered to answer and help. Thanks…

fatwa
Nimmy, I don’t thin you are a Muslim at all, however, if you are Muslim then you know that YOU CAN NOT ISSUE A FATAW BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO; or, to be realistic, you can issue as many fatwas as you like, people will not consider them because they will say WHO THE HECK ARE YOU TO ISSUE A FATAW.
Second, if you are really a Muslim, then you would not even ask such questions, you would know very well why the so called terrorist acts are happening and your discussion would take a totally different course.
In short, the only thing you proved by your little question is that you actually have no idea what is going on.
Your question is wrong!

I cannot say you are not a Muslim, But one thing is clear that your favours are with Non-Muslims.
You promote the propaganda that suits to Non-Muslims.
I became alert about you when you once selected answer of a Qadiyani as a best answer (there was nothing special in that answer), May be you are a Qadiyani.

Sister, how do you expect to ever convince someone that the Quran preaches otherwise when they have already chosen to put their personal motives ahead of everything? Anyone who chooses their interpretation over the actual interpretation of the Quran only to justify a cause is on the lost path. You explaining it to them, showing the verse in context, the translations, the correct interpretations will not change their mind, because they have already chosen their personal motive over the Quran itself and they plan to stick to it. They are not trying to understand the Quran and even when it is apparent, they want to justify their actions and their opinions. Most Muslims do that, but some on smaller scales like with the issue of the Hijab and some with obviously huge ones, like “killing the infidels”.
The best thing for you to do is be an example of the Quran by following Muhammad (PBUH). A person is not allowed to fight unless fought against and is to fight injustice and oppression wherever it is. How many of those do you see today? Since when was suicide bombing a teaching of Islam? Killing women, children, elders, and innocent people? Blowing up building, homes, religious sites? These “Suicide Bombers” are nothing but a negative image to us and only repels people from what we know is the truth.
Your job is to explain when being asked. Show them the verses in the Quran (From the first verse in Surat At-Touba) in which the pull “kill all the infidels” out of context. True Da’wah is in your actions, your words, your behavior. Da’wah doesn’t mean knocking down people’s doors and shoving your beliefs down your throat. True Da’wah means you being the best Muslim you can be and follow the teachings of the Quran to the letter as much as you are capable of. Only then will people see the product of a true Muslim in action.
Fatwas are a big issue themselves. Several scholars, notably the ones from Al-Azhar, have issued Fatwas which are completely against the teachings of the Quran. Fatwas are not issued by regular Muslims, but by learned ones, and sadly, even those make mistakes. Your job again, is to be the best Muslim you can. Don’t worry about changing people’s minds. Only those who really are willing to understand will come to you with open ears and a clear mind, and that’s where your job begins.
Nimmy:
Anytime sister. Email me if you ever have questions =)

Dear,
Why don’t u realize that ALL this is a REACTION to what the West has and is still doing. It does NOT necessarily need to have roots in the religion.
Just think about it this way:
1- The FIRST suicide bombings and missions started in World War-II by the Japanese. The Japanese had squadrons of “KamaKazi” pilots. The sole objective of the pilots was NO RETURN mission i.e. they would load the plane with explosives, and would ram it into the ships and enemy targets.
Is this religious. Or were they MUSLIMS ????
Of course NOT.
2- The second suicide bombers are the Tamil Tigers.
Are Tamil Tigers Muslims ????
Of course NOT !!!
3- The third level came when the leader of Intifada the crippled Shiekh in the wheel chair (who was subsequently killed by Israel), gave the Fatwa that Suicide bombings are legal, against the aggressor infidel forces.
Then we see a chain of suicide bombers following suite among the Muslims.
You can say that this one has religious roots. But ONE should realize that a LARGE portion of it, is contributed by the UNJUST policies of the West and the WORLD. We all know that:
1- The UNO is nothing but a tool to legalize the crimes of powerful nations, against the weak. It is a USELESS organization, which has nothing but to relay statements and call for embargoes against the weak.
2- The World and the West closes its eyes on whatever Israel does.
3- The World and the West does not say a single word to whatever India does in Kashmir.
4- The West remained a spectator for a LONG time when there was a genocide going on in Bosnia. If someone tells u that well we finally stepped in. Then just tell him back, compare the response to what happened in East Taimur.
So my dear, it is ALL a one sided affair.
If one idiot shiekh issued a fatwa and many followed, it does not mean that the flaw is with us. I guarantee u, even if the fatwa had not been issued, there would have been some other thing that would have brought the retaliatory response.
It is just a RETALIATORY response. Just as the Kamakazi and the Tamil Tigers have done. None of them has a religious back ground. They do/did it for a Philosophy, national / patriotic what ever u may wish to name it.

Edit:
Let me give u some more picture to the scenario;
The Soviet union collapsed in 1988. Just before it collapsed, a TERM was aired by American media i.e. in 1986. Because USA had come to know that the USSR is tumbling down. Now the USA economy is heavily dependent on “ARMS” or War industry. So now the US govt. needed to generate another enemy (bad guy) to keep the things moving.
As a result, the FIRST term that was aired in 1986 was “FUNDAMENTALISTS”. Those readers who are +40 yrs. of age, will tell u that this is true.
Just as the term of “Terrorist” is in no two meanings referred to Muslims. Just in the same way the term “Fundamentalist” was referred to the Muslims. And the whole media was beating it at the top of its voice. No one was saying that if “Muslims” are fundamentalists then the same term should be used for Roman Catholics and more importantly for the Jews. As Jews are also VERY much fundamentalists.
However, in 2 years time, somehow the perpetrators realized that the term has some flaws. Therefore, the new term of “Terrorist” was generated. This continues to this day.
Just ask them, what is the definition of Terrorist and u will come to know that it has not been defined yet. Obviously the Terrorist of India is a freedom fighter for Tamils and Kashmiris. SO ??? what the heck.
Now I have watched with a VERY sharply the war of Afghanistan (USSR occupation). I can tell u that, I NEVER EVER heard the name of “Osama bin Laden”. And the Afghan war was over in 1987. When I was deployed in Germany for 1 year, in 1995, THAT was the FIRST time when I heard that Osama bin Laden is a terrorist and he fought the Afghan war against the USSR.
Damn them, its “BULL SHIT !!!!!!!” nothing but BULL SHIT.
Osama was NO WHERE even near to Afghan war. The key players of Afghan war were the Mujahideen and the ISI and its general “Akhtar Abdur Rehman”. And 8 years later the American and the British media is telling that “NO”, Osama fought Afghan war.
The public as well as the muslims are IDIOTS.
Just ask someone in intelligence, the story “How Israel captured the Gollan heights”. And u will be surprised to know the answer. No wonder, someday (may be 30 years later) someone will tell u that Osama was an implanted CIA agent. Nothing more. And all that happened was a CIA and American plan.

I think part of the problem is the poor understanding that we have about our religion, because that is our weakness. This is something that corrupted rulers have taken advantage of, so they fill all this gaps with their innovations.
People have reduced islam to just a 5 times a day ritual and they forget about dawah and jihad (in all senses) they are like sleeping. And just relying on Fatwas is not gonna help, because nowadays there are many clashing fatwas all over the place. People should take responsability of their deen because in the day of judgment it wont be valid to say “BUT I was just following such and such” According to Quran we need to seek knowledge from the craddle to the grave isn it? and this is part of our jihad and is not transfereable to any one.
Everything could be improved as we become more closer to Allah and defend our values and set some resistance, Educating our selves and by being a good example to each other. By speaking out, By enjoining the good and forbidding the munkar…

do what we Sikhs did, we killed Sikh terrorists without sympathy, without saying that they had a reason, that they were taking revenge……
can your community do that , i dont think so, because when you only write about an Islam problem in yahoo answers the other Muslims dont consider you to be Muslim.

I think you have taken upon yourself a task that’s perhaps too big and too tough.
A Queer Festival is about to take place in the capital of my country for the first time ever. It happens to fall during Ramadan. Guess what the officials of the Islamic Community did? (they’re the ones who ought to deal with things you’re trying to deal with!) They invite ”all true Muslims” to fight this ”plague of evil and immorality.” I was reading some comments on local forums and was shocked by the level of homophobia and potential violence (people were saying how they should all be chopped to pieces, etc) this open invite raised. And if people get hurt during those few days of a bloody festival, which is organized with a purpose to promote gay culture, movies on human rights and dealing with discrimination – not a gay parade as these monsters respresent it – they will not take responsibility. They will say ”those were individuals, not real Muslims” when the real truth is that they invited them between the lines to act violently. This thing starts on Sept. 24th. Watch the news closely. I bet there’ll be a bomb blast in Sarajevo in the next few days. And I have yet to a fellow countryman Muslim who thinks and says aloud ”leave them alone, they have rights.” And even if I did, what use would it be when the officials say otherwise?!
I’m not telling you this story for nothing. I’m trying to make you see that the reform is needed on a higher level, not on your individual.
