Mujahida ? Free Palestine asked:

I gave to my son two islamic names. But now I have a big doubt…is it permissible? Or is it haram? Or makrooh? I look for this, but I cannot find any fatwa or hadith about it. Please, help me fi sabil Allah. Salamu aleikum.

Why, perhaps, were Christianity and Judaism disadvantage in Arabia? Finally, considering Asia as a whole, why might it be that it was Islam, and not some other merchant-oriented religion like Buddhism or Jainism, which first came up with a whole system of commercial law and dispute resolution?

Should the National Fatwa Council ban Silat in Malaysia?

Written by al-Ustaz on Monday, September 8th, 2008 in Malaysia.

GarisHalus asked:

because in Silat we have a lot of Mantra that sounds like Quranic versus but in fact not … will that be an insult to UMNO leaders because most of them are Chairman or President of Silat organizations in Malaysia such as Silat Gayung, Silat Lintau, Silat Helang Putih etc

for example “Allahuakbar … atas junjungan Nabi Muhammad s.a.w … datuk khalifah … panglima di tanah … juga di langit … anak cucu ingin berjihad … bla bla bla … ”

I wonder who’s that “Datuk Khalifah” and “Panglima”? … because in Islam we were told to seek help only from Allah .. not any datuk or Panglima hitam watsoeva

With the truckloads of books dealing with early Christianity from a historical-critical perspective, maybe scholars are going easy on Islam. Why do you think this is or is not the case?

I took for granted that much could be known about Muhammad and the origins of Islam, but further reading suggested this is very uncertain. However, unlike with Christianity, there seems to be little scholarly investigation to work with.
